SAPPER (Semi Automated Portable Penetrometer Electronic Recorder)

The SAPPER is a fast, rugged, accurate device that automates the DCP with an 8 kg hammer at a rate of about one blow every two to four seconds. Data is collected and displayed with an on-board micro processor. This makes it easy to record, display, and retrieve the penetration rate, blows, and correlations to CBR as well as other data about the test. It comes with a 37-inch spring steel drive rod, which can be driven into the ground up to 36 inches. The SAPPER is comprised of a DCP encased in two aluminum channels which can be mounted to a vehicle hitch. It is conveniently powered by the vehicle battery.
